Madelynn Martiniere is a designer, facilitator, and strategist helping prosocial organizations more effectively collaborate, cooperate and coordinate together towards more equitable and scalable open innovation ecosystems.
Over the past 15+ years she has supported hundreds of organizations across the globe in bring about equitable models of economic development, community design, and distributed production of technology (hardware and software). She has extensive expertise working across nonprofits, startups, grassroots movements, corporate innovation labs, and government initiatives.
In addition to a portfolio of advisory and facilitation clients, she currently leads Ecosystem Development for the Holochain Foundation, stewarding a novel open-source framework for creating peer-to-peer applications that are secure, reliable, and fast. She also serves as board member for Communtaire International, and advisor to Hylo.
Most recently, Madelynn was Co-Executive Director of Zebras Unite, a global co-op that catalyzes community, capital, and culture for people building businesses that are better for the world.
She is co-founder of Armillaria, a systems design collective working to create critical digital infrastructure for a more thriving world., starting with the Innovation Exchange and Needslist platforms.
An early leader and advocate for the Maker Movement, Madelynn was a founding member of Freeside Atlanta, and co-producer of the documentary Remade: The Rebirth of the Maker Movement, the first documentary to capture the emergence of the maker movement in the United States. She has been a director, board member, and advisor to a plethora of global maker programs and organisations with a particular focus on democratizing the means of education and production in historically underestimated communities.
She is a sought-after speaker, and workshop facilitator on topics at the intersections of open innovation, appropriate technology, participatory design and decision making, and ecosystem development. She has spoken at events including SXSW, MLOVE, Connected Conference, Hello Tomorow, Maker Faire, TechFestival, Pirate Summit, Latitude59 and more.
