Madelynn Martiniere is a designer, facilitator, and strategist helping prosocial organizations more effectively collaborate, cooperate and coordinate together towards more equitable and scalable open innovation ecosystems.
Over the past 15+ years she has supported hundreds of organizations across the globe in bring about equitable models of economic development, community design, and distributed production of technology (hardware and software). She has extensive expertise working across nonprofits, startups, grassroots movements, corporate innovation labs, and government initiatives.
She most recently served as the Co-Executive Director of Zebras Unite, stewarding a global co-op that catalyzes community, capital, and culture for people building businesses that are better for the world.
She is a co-founder and Senior Advisor to Armillaria, a systems design collective working to create critical digital infrastructure for a more thriving world.
Prior to that, she led community education and communication efforts at Fictiv, a distributed manufacturing platform that serves many of the world’s leading automobile, aerospace, and consumer electronics companies.
An early leader and advocate for the Maker Movement, Madelynn was a founding member of Freeside Atlanta, and has been director, board member, and advisor to a plethora of global maker programs and organisations, with a particular focus on democratizing the means of education and production in historically underestimated communities.
She is a sought-after speaker, and workshop facilitator on topics at the intersections of open innovation, appropriate technology, participatory design and decision making, and ecosystem development. She has spoken at events across the globe, including SXSW, MLOVE, Connected Conference, Maker Faire, TechFestival, Pirate Summit, Latitude59 and more.
